Two Westjet flights forced to change course

Two Westjet flights experienced drama in the skies Saturday.

Passengers on a flight from Vancouver to Toronto had an unplanned layover in Thunder Bay after police say a passenger became unruly and the flight crew had to subdue him.

They say a 27-year-old man allegedly uttered a bomb threat, and that he is now in custody.

Flight 644 was searched by the OPP Explosive Disposal Unit and everyone's luggage was searched. The 118 passengers spent the night in Thunder Bay.

On Saturday, a West Jet flight from Vancouver to Toronto had to return to Vancouver because of a smell created by what an airline spokesman called "excess lubricant." That flight was delayed about 6 hours, inconveniencing more than 100 passengers.
