Adani Fuentes-Ardiano, 29, was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on a count of unauthorized entry into a critical infrastructure after he was seen near a plane at the Lafayette Regional Airport on Saturday.

One man is under arrest and facing charges after an incident at the Lafayette Regional Airport Saturday morning.

Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Deputies responded at 7 a.m. to an individual found outside near a plane at the airport.

After a joint investigation between the LPSO and the Department of Homeland Security, the individual, identified as Adani Fuentes-Ardiano, was taken into custody and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

The Department of Homeland Security Investigations Lafayette team was involved in the alert and the arrest. HSI New Orleans acting Special Agent in Charge Gilbert Trill, who oversees agents in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi, said of the arrest, "HSI takes the protection and security of our nation’s critical infrastructure seriously and we stand ready to respond day and night to that mission. Our agents are committed to working alongside our law enforcement partners to safeguard our nation’s communities and assets.”

Fuentes-Ardiano is facing one charge of Unauthorized Entry into a Critical Infrastructure. A bond has not yet been set.

On October 24, 2020, about 1200 central daylight time, a Cirrus SR22 airplane, N183V, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Tishomingo, Oklahoma. The pilot and three passengers were not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 flight.

The pilot stated that after descending to about 1,800 ft above ground level, the engine started to lose RPM and subsequently lost all power. After noticing that forced landing options were unsuitable, the pilot pulled the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS). The airplane descended under parachute until impact with terrain, which fractured an engine mount. On site examination of the airplane by a Federal Aviation Administration inspector revealed significant thermal damage to the engine and an empty oil reservoir, with oil covering the underside of the airplane.

JOHNSTON COUNTY, Oklahoma  – A single-engine airplane crashed in Johnston County on Saturday afternoon.

Johnston County Emergency Management issued an alert on social media, stating that emergency responders were at the scene of a plane crash on Mitchell Ranch in Southeast Johnston County.

“All four occupants from Texas are okay and uninjured,” Emergency Management personnel said.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, Tishomingo Fire Department, Milburn Fire Department and Emergency Management responded to the crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.

Incident occurred October 24, 2020 near Vance Brand Airport (KLMO), Longmont, Colorado

A small plane crash-landed on a field near Airport Road shortly after take-off about 11:15 a.m. Saturday, coming to rest partially in the roadway, according to Longmont police Sgt. Colin Jessen.

The pilot, a 47-year-old man who was flying as a student, received minor injuries and went to Longmont United Hospital as a precaution, Jessen said. His passenger, the flight instructor, wasn’t injured.

The plane had a mechanical problem at take-off and collided with an airport sign on the runway as it was lifting off, Jessen said. The pilot attempted to steer the plane back toward the airport, but didn’t have enough altitude or speed and landed in the field, he said.

The plane came to rest partially on the roadway near the Longmont Public Works building. The road was closed northbound for about an hour while the crash was investigated and the plane moved, Jessen said.

On October 21, 2020, about 1612 eastern daylight time, a Bell 206B, N716VL, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Point Lookout, New York. The pilot sustained minor injuries. The helicopter was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations part 91 personal flight.

The pilot stated that earlier that day he departed from Republic Airport (FRG), Farmingdale, New York en route to Sterling Heliport (PS01), Croydon, Pennsylvania, for scheduled maintenance. While en route he elected to return due to adverse weather and remained on the ramp waiting for it to improve. Later that day with a pilot reported ceiling of 900 ft which was reported to be better to the west (his intended direction), he elected to depart. After takeoff air traffic control communications were transferred to John F Kennedy International Airport air traffic control tower and while in contact with that facility he noted the weather was coming in quick and hard, with the ceiling reported to be at 300 ft. He told the controller that he would return to FRG, but as he attempted to return he was having trouble holding a heading. While in instrument meteorological conditions, he heard a loud noise in the tail and the helicopter yawed clockwise. He attempted to maintain pitch attitude and descended into about 1 ft of water coming to rest upright. He did not perceive an issue with the engine which remained running after coming to rest. He secured the helicopter and engine then got out of the helicopter and walked to a nearby boat then to a U.S. Coast Guard boat and was transported to land and then to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The helicopter was recovered and secured for further examination of the flight control and main and tail rotor drive systems.

Merrick Truck Co. 1

This afternoon at approximately 4:15pm the Merrick Fire Department was alerted for a possible “aircraft down” just outside the Jones Beach Inlet.

While enroute, units received confirmation of a helicopter that had crashed in the waters just north of the Inlet.

Members from Truck Company responded with Marine 1, upon arrival the crew was faced with shallow water making it difficult to access the helicopter. Rescue swimmers were deployed to assist the NCPD Marine unit.

After making contact with the pilot, he was then back-boarded and brought to Marine 1 for further medical assistance.

Marine 1 transported the pilot to Jones Beach Coast Guard Station, where an ambulance was waiting to take him to local hospital.
