On October 7, 2021, about 0737 mountain daylight time, a Piper PA-24, N5585P, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Northern Colorado Regional Airport (FNL), Fort Collins, Colorado. The pilot and passenger sustained minor injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight.

The pilot reported that after departure from Runway 15 at FNL, the engine lost partial power and the airplane was not able to climb normally. The pilot executed a forced landing onto a road, during which the airplane impacted a pole and the left wing was substantially damaged.

The airplane was retained for examination.

On October 2, 2021, about 17:14 eastern standard time, an Airbus A320-271N neo, registration number N922NK, operated by Spirit Airlines as flight number 4922, and powered by two International Aero Engines PW 1127G-JM turbofan geared engines experience a right (No. 2) engine bird strike and subsequent engine fire during takeoff roll from the Atlantic City International Airport (ACY), Atlantic City, New Jersey. The flight crew reported receiving an No. 2 engine fire warning, discharged both fire bottles, aborted the takeoff at a groundspeed of about 90 knots and stopped the airplane on the runway. The airplane’s slides were deployed and the passengers egressed via the slides onto the runway. The airport’s Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) met the airplane. Of the 102 passengers, 6 crew member, and one dead-heading crew member onboard the flight, four minor injuries were reported during the airplane evacuation. The incident flight was a 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 121 passenger flight from ACY to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
