Bell 206B-3 JetRanger III, N284CA: Accident occurred October 01, 2022 in Fresno, California

National Transportation Safety Board - Accident Report Number: WPR23LA004

Organ Mountain Aviation Co LLC

FRESNO, California (FOX26) — A helicopter crashed near homes Saturday morning in Southeast Fresno.

Fresno Police responded around 9:54 a.m. for reports of a helicopter crash at a home on Garrett Avenue, near Jensen and Willow Avenue.

When police arrived, they say they found a helicopter crashed in between two houses, with the pilot laying on the floor and the passenger walking around.

FOX 26 obtained surveillance video showing the moment the helicopter crashed to the ground.

In the video, you can see the crash and people start to gather around as the pilot and passenger exit the helicopter.

The pilot was a 47-year-old man, and the passenger was a 33-year-old man.

Police say they were both conscious, breathing, and talking with minor injuries.

They were both taken to the hospital where their current condition is not known.

One house had very minor damage to the property, and nobody else in the houses or around the area was injured.

Police say the crew told them that they were on a test flight in the survey helicopter when they suddenly heard a loud pop and then began losing altitude.

Police believe the helicopter may have hit the side of one house before hitting a palm tree, and then the ground.

The area will be closed off for around 24 hours while authorities complete their investigation.

Accident occurred September 30, 2022 at Pine Mountain Lake Airport (E45), Groveland, Tuolumne County, California

Groveland, California – A plane crash at the Pine Mountain Lake Airport last night resulted in the aircraft overturning.

The call of a downed plane came in around 6 p.m., sending Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputies rushing to the airport, located on Elderberry Way in the Pine Mountain Lake community, three miles northeast of Groveland.

Tuolumne sheriff’s spokesperson, Ashley Boujikian, tells Clarke Broadcasting that when first responders arrived at the scene, they found the plane upside down on the runway.

While ground ambulances were dispatched to the scene, luckily, no injuries were reported in the crash. The plane was able to be righted.

The plane’s tail number indicates that it is a single-engine fixed-wing aircraft with two seats registered to a Groveland resident. It is unclear whether the plane was taking off or landing, with Boujikian adding, “It is unknown why the plane ended up being upside down,” adding, “Per standard investigative procedures, the FAA and NTSB were notified and will be conducting independent investigations into what happened.”

NEWTOWN, Connecticut — A plane that can operate on land and water was running low on fuel Friday when it made an unscheduled landing on Lake Lillinonah, officials said.

The plane, a small single-engine aircraft, landed safely around 11:30 a.m. Friday and refueled with assistance from people on shore before taking off again without incident, according to Assistant Fire Chief Ray Corbo, of Newtown Hook & Ladder.

He said he did not know where the plane originated.

Corbo said the aircraft was running low on fuel “so they wanted to be safe and not try to make it back to the airport."

A pilot and one passenger were on board the plane.

The plane landed and was able to taxi to the town boat launch with its remaining fuel. Authorities dispatched a boat to assist, but it was not needed — a resident who lives nearby was able to help refuel the plane, Corbo said.

The plane took off around 12:10 p.m. and “was able to leave the area safely,” Corbo said, flying out to Danbury Airport.

Volunteers in Newtown lent a hand to a plane that had to make an unplanned landing.

Newtown Hook and Ladder responded to Lake Lillinonah where a pilot was low on fuel and reached out for a few gallons.

The department posted on social media that this was this was first time in its 139-year history it responded to such an emergency.

It was also Newtown Hook and Ladder’s 493rd call in 2022.
