The project at the Navasota Municipal Airport to expand the runway kicked off Tuesday morning.
The expansion will bring the runway from 3200 feet long and 60 feet wide to 5000 feet long and 75 feet wide. A taxiway will also be added. The project will allow much larger aircraft to utilize the airport.
The project was funded with the assistance of a TxDOT Aviation grant in the amount of $5.5 million.
