In honor and memory of Navy SEAL Kevin Houston: 5k walk/run fundraising event scheduled for November. Massachusetts.

On August 6th, America lost more than twenty of its most courageous and valiant sons, after a Chinook helicopter was shot down in Afghanistan. It was carrying SEALs, Air Force crew, and Afghan soldiers.  Among those who were killed was Navy SEAL Kevin Houston of Chesapeake, Virginia.  The 36-year-old native of Cape Cod had dreamed of becoming a Navy SEAL even when he was still a toddler.

Kevin Houston completed SEAL training in 1999, and eventually settled in Chesapeake. He served in the Navy for 16 years, and was the recipient of a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars, among other decorations.

In honor and memory of Kevin Houston who was killed in the deadly helicopter crash while serving as a member of Navy SEAL Team Six and his sister Miranda Houston who died of ovarian cancer, the First Annual Houston Memorial 5K Walk/Run will take place on Nov. 5 at Barnstable High School.

The family event will include a race for children and adults starting at BHS.

Kid's races start at 9 am on the track and the 5K loop will begin at BHS and loop through Craigville Conference Center.

All race fees and donations will go to Kevin Houston's family - his wife and three children.

Pre-race entry fee is $20. On race day the entry fee is $25. Kid Races are donations only. The first 150 racers get free t-shirts. Register here.

Donations are being accepted here.
