Incident occurred December 31, 2019 near Bob Sikes Airport (KCEW), Crestview, Okaloosa County, Florida

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Florida (WEAR) — A single-engine plane with a family of four landed in an open field short of a runway at Bob Sikes Airport on December 31st.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 4 p.m.

Authorities say a husband, wife and two children were on board. OCSO hasn't released their names or where they took off from

The plane had been experiencing engine problems, OCSO said.

Everyone on board has been reported safe.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
