Raleigh-Durham International Airport chief links incentives to air service

Michael Landguth aims to ‘enhance’ the process of getting new service.

MORRISVILLE – Raleigh-Durham International Airport may offer or facilitate targeted financial incentives to airlines as part of an intensified pursuit of direct flights to the West Coast, its new chief executive says.

Airport Director Michael Landguth says incentives are one of several means to entice airlines to connect directly from RDU to San Francisco, San Jose, the European continent and other desired destinations. Landguth has been on the job for three weeks, taking the helm from John Brantley, who retired after serving as director since 1982.

Landguth aims to “enhance the recruitment process,” he says.
