Ahead Of Niagara Falls launch, Allegiant Air Adds Orlando Service

NIAGARA FALLS, NY - One week before it begins service at Niagara Falls International Airport, Allegiant Air is already adding to the destinations it will fly from the Cataract City.

Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air said it will begin flying four times per week between Niagara Falls and Sanford, Fla., a suburb of Orlando. The service will begin on Feb. 15.

Allegiant, on Dec. 15, will start its Niagara Falls to Tampa/St. Petersburg flights.

Like the Tampa flights, Allegiant will fly an MD-80, 150-seat jet between Niagara Falls and Sanford.

"They haven't even started flying from Niagara Falls and they are already adding routes," said Henry Sloma, Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority interim chairman and Niagara County Industrial Development Agency executive director.

The Niagara Falls airport is already serviced by Direct Air and Spirit Airlines.

Passenger counts at the airport are up 188 percent from last year, thanks to increase routes by Direct Air and new service from Spirit Airlines.
