Israeli Air Force helicopter performs emergency landing

Longbow Apache Attack helicopter forced to land near Route 6 due to indication of technical malfunction. No injuries, damage reported

An Air Force Apache helicopter flying to a base in south Israel from Ramat David performed an emergency landing near Route 6 on Friday.

Many drivers on the road's northern section were surprised to see a helicopter suddenly land in an open field near the Ein Tut junction. The Longbow Apache Attack helicopter was forced to land due to an indication of a technical malfunction. It performed the emergency landing successfully and no injuries or damage were reported.

IAF technical crews are currently conducting field tests on the helicopter to source out the root of the malfunction. It is estimated the helicopter will soon take off. Initial examinations suggest no damage was caused to the helicopter itself. IAF sources described the malfunction as minor, adding that the crew followed procedure.

Some two years ago, an Apache helicopter landed in a peanut field in the Upper Galilee due to a technical malfunction. There were no injuries or damage.
