47-year-old Fred Leeper, and 62-year-old Mike Anderson of Douglass were inside an ultra-light plane around 6:00 Saturday night, when the plane crashed along the Butler/Cowley County line.

The ultra-light plane crashed in a milo field east of U.S. 77, and south of southwest 230th road.

The plane had taken off from a private airport near Douglass when it began to sputter and lost power. Leeper, the pilot attempted to land in a field, but the field was muddy, causing the plane to flip as it landed.

Leeper suffered a serious injury to his leg. Anderson had minor injuries and was treated and released from the scene.

Anderson says Leeper is a licensed pilot and had recently purchased the plane.
