FLORIDA: Sebring's Lockwood Aviation, Beringer announce pact

OSHKOSH, Wis. - Lockwood Aviation and Beringer Wheels & Brakes jointly announced their agreement for Lockwood Aviation of Sebring to become the first U.S. service center for Beringer Wheels & Brakes of Tallard, France.

Beringer, long recognized for its high-performance braking systems, chose Lockwood for its reputation for excellent customer service and expertise in light aviation. Lockwood will offer the high-quality, low-maintenance brake systems, along with the company's expert service. Both routine service and full Beringer conversions are supported at the Sebring facility.

"We are pleased to be working with Beringer Wheels & Brakes," said Phil Lockwood, president of Lockwood Aviation, in a news release. "We have adopted their system on our Air Cam, and are extremely pleased with the results."

Gilbert Beringer, president of Beringer Wheels & Brakes, added, "The reputation of Lockwood Aviation is well-known around the world, and we are happy that they will be providing service to our U.S. customers."

Beringer Wheels & Brakes claims it offers pilots greater control, longer life, lighter weight and lower maintenance than the competition due to its design, CNC-machined billet construction, long-lasting brake pads and tubeless tires.

Also included in all Beringer full conversions is the ALIR, or anti-lock in-line regulator, system, which allows differential steering and full braking without skidding, even if uneven pedal pressure is inadvertently applied.

Beringer systems are available for a wide range of aircraft, from light planes up to its now-standard system for the Pilatus PC-6, and complete kits include everything for a bolt-on conversion: master cylinders and reservoirs, braided stainless/Teflon hoses and fittings, axles and nuts, brakes, wheels, and mounted, pressure-tested tires.
