Qantas pilots want spas, massages, facials included in work entitlements.

QANTAS pilots are demanding the same treatment as their first-class passengers, including spas, massages and facials, as part of their industrial war with the airline.

A statement of claim that has been obtained by the Herald Sun reveals the Australian International Pilots Association wants its pilots to get access to first and business-class lounges.

"Pilots travelling on duty (domestic and international) are entitled to all privileges and benefits applicable to the class of travel."

A Qantas source said this would mean every long-haul pilot would get access to the airline's premium lounges.

Already captains, first officers and second officers with five or more years' service get work-related travel at the highest class available.

Second officers with less than five years' service are entitled to business class.

The pilots also want:

A 2.5 per cent wage rise each year for three years.

TWO free international economy tickets each year (upgradeable to business and first), in addition to already heavily discounted airfares for them and their families.

QANTAS to fund two union officials at a cost of up to $1 million a year.

DISCOUNTED membership to the Qantas Club.

Qantas says the claim on wages and travel would cost it about $150 million over the next four years.

The airline says the average wage for a Boeing 747 captain is about $350,000 a year and almost $400,000 for an Airbus A380 captain, both including superannuation and allowances.

"Qantas has some of the best pilots in the world and we already provide them with excellent pay and benefits but what they are asking for is unreasonable," the airline said in a statement.
