Texas Department of Public Safety troopers talk near the scene of a small engine Cessna wreck, Friday, August 6, 2011 in a field approximately one mile north the Xcel Energy Nichols Station.

Officials on Saturday identified four passengers injured in a small plane crash northeast of Amarillo Friday evening.

Brandon Alan Adkins, 16, and Steven Wayne Adkins, 45, both of Bulverde; Florence Peterpaul Dominguez, 49, of Amarillo; and Kevin Michael Morris, 38, of Allen, all suffered minor injuries in the incident, the Department of Public Safety said.

Robert John Corcoran, 39, of Downsville, La., the pilot of the Cessna T210N, also suffered minor injuries in the crash-landing, the DPS said. All five were hospitalized in stable condition Saturday, the DPS said.

Corcoran told firefighters who arrived on the scene that the plane’s engine had quit and he was trying to glide it to an airport. After the plane struck the ground, the front landing gear broke and the aircraft flipped upside-down near El Rancho Road, west of the intersection of El Rancho and State Highway 136, the DPS said.

Federal and private investigators arrived Saturday morning at the scene. Juan Rivera, a Federal Aviation Administration investigator from Lubbock, said he spent Saturday morning gathering data about the crash. A senior air safety investigator for Cessna, Steve Miller, of Wichita, Kan., also arrived Saturday morning to assist in the investigation. Miller declined to comment on the incident.

National Transportation Safety Board policy is that the organization publishes a preliminary report within two weeks of an accident.

“We’ll report to the NTSB. The NTSB is going to make a final report,” Rivera said.

Rivera said a salvage truck was scheduled to pick up the plane Saturday afternoon.
