1,800 tons of aviation fuel unblocked from state reserve to be enough for 4-5 days only, says Bulgarian Airlines Association.

“The problem of the airlines concerning the lack of kerosene may be solved only for very short time with the 1,800 tons of aviation fuel unblocked from the state reserve. This amount will be enough only for 4-5 days,” sad Yovko Yotsev, secretary general of the Bulgarian Airlines Association, speaking with FOCUS News Agency.

“If the fuel production is not restored soon, there are different variants for securing the necessary fuel. One of them is for the airplanes to land in countries close to Bulgaria and refuel,” he added.

Asked whether this measure would hike the price of the flight tickets, Yotsev said that the tickets are purchased months ahead of the trip and the passengers will not be required to pay extra fees.

“At this stage, it would be for the airlines to suffer the blow,” Yotsev remarked.
