Turbulence injures 12 aboard United Airlines flight; plane lands at George Bush Intercontinental/Houston Airport (KIAH) Houston, Texas

HOUSTON – Twelve people on a Houston-bound United Airlines flight were injured Wednesday after the plane passed through extreme turbulence over Louisiana.

At least two of the injured people were crewmembers of United 1727.

United officials said there were 151 passengers and six crewmembers on the flight from Tampa to Houston when the turbulence hit over Lake Charles.

Once the flight landed at Bush IAH, all of the passengers were taken off the plane for a short time while it was inspected. They later got back on for the connecting flight into Denver.

KHOU 11 News was at the airport as two crewmembers were taken away by EMS, wearing neck braces.

Passengers said one flight attendant hit her head and vomited on the plane.

Both of the hospitalized crewmembers were conscious and talking.

Fire officials said everyone else who was hurt suffered only minor injuries
