Public Television of Angola cameraman dies in helicopter crash


Luanda - The image reporter of the Public Television of Angola (TPA) Feliciano Saiminho "Magic" died following a helicopter crash on Wednesday afternoon, when it was leaving Huambo city bound for the Kuito city, central Bie province.


Speaking to the press, the second provincial commander of the National Police in Bie, Filomeno Araujo, said that in the accident of the aircraft belonging to the National Air Force also perished its board technician, Manuel André.

According to the commander, journalist Samuel Lussati and image reporter Sergio Bravo, both of TPA, and the helicopter pilot, Alcides Valdemiro, are in serious condition at the Central Hospital of Huambo, where they are being watched.

The journalist Alexandre Cose, who was also on the aircraft, is being observed in the hospital.

The aircraft was located today in the town of Lunundo between the bank of Cutato river, about 60 kilometres off Huambo city.

Started at 5pm on Wednesday, the search focused on the town of Chitato, Chinguar district, central Bie province, and Chiumbo and Sanguengue, Catchiungo municipality, province of Huambo.

Two helicopters aided in the above mentioned search sites, conducted by staff of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), National Police (PN), as well as the civil protection services and fire departments, involving staff of the provincial government and pople.
