TMA Chief Engineer sentenced to two years for sexually assaulting a female pilot


Criminal Court today sentenced Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) Chief Engineer for two years after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a female pilot. 

Criminal Court today sentenced Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) Chief Engineer for two years after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a female pilot. 

 The Court ruled that the evidence and testimonies presented by the Prosecutor General’s Office against TMA Chief Engineer Thomas Cunningham Newton was sufficient for a conviction beyond reasonable doubt. 

The Fiji national Newton was arrested on March 5, 2011 after being accused of sexually assaulting a Canadian female pilot two days earlier on March 3, 2011.
