Virgin Australia meets captains of industry

REGIONAL air travel experts will fly into our town just one month before flights from Port Macquarie to Brisbane commence.

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council will bring together the experts with about 50 business leaders at a lunch on Monday.

Virgin Australia chief executive officer John Borghetti and air transport aviation consultancy Aspirion chief executive officer Scott Gustetter will speak at the lunch.

The Virgin Australia team will arrive on the ATR72 aircraft from Brisbane.

The 68-seat aircraft will operate a return service linking Port Macquarie and Brisbane from October 19. It will also operate on Port Macquarie to Sydney services.

Mr Borghetti will address the business lunch on the new direction for Virgin Australia and plans to expand the airline’s regional network under his stewardship.

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council’s general manager Tony Hayward said the ongoing growth in regional aviation services at Port Macquarie Airport was critical to the growth and economic development potential of our region and underpinned business and tourism industries.
