Fly Guam to receive 2nd plane

Fly Guam will be receiving a second airplane on Sept. 26, according to the company.

"We are hugely excited to be receiving our second aircraft," said Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Stern in a written statement.

The airplane will be a Boeing 737-400, the same model as the existing airplane, according to the statement.

The new plane will be nearly identical to its counterpart, except for a different image on the tail. The interior, which holds 12 business class seats and 132 economy class seats, will be the same.

Fly Guam operates flights to Saipan, Palau, Nagoya and Taipei, and has plans to begin flights to Clark in the Philippines, the statement said.

The company, which has been flying since March 4, has had cancellations due to maintenance and checks for its single aircraft, said Lisa Bordallo, station manager for Fly Guam. Customers were rescheduled, and those on returning flights were booked on another airline, or put in hotels.

The new airplane will be used both as a backup plane and for additional flights, she said.
