Tourvest Duty Free, a member of tourism group Tourvest's travel retail division, announced on Monday that it had secured an exclusive agreement to supply and manage the in-fight retail business of British Airways.

The contract, which begins on November 1, covers British Airways' entire fleet of 229 aircraft for both short- and long-haul destinations.

"We're delighted to have been appointed by British Airways to manage such a prestigious in-flight retail business. It adds further scale and value to our already successful and growing business outside of Africa. Our dynamic UK-based team is working well with the British Airways team and we look forward very much to launching the new programme on November 1," said Selwyn Grimsley, TDF CEO.

British Airways in-flight retail manager Nigel Smith said that the carrier made the decision to outsource its in-flight retail business to TDF after a very thorough evaluation.

"TDF's proven track record will enable British Airways to enhance its retail offer across new sales channels while adding value to the overall customer experience. We are extremely excited about entering into this new phase with TDF, who will no doubt exceed our expectation in terms of revenue and service delivery," he said.

British Airways is the latest addition of a growing list of concessionaires under TDF management, which includes South African Airways, South African Express, Virgin Atlantic, Vueling, Kenya Airways, TAAG Angola Airlines, and Air Mauritius.
