North Dakota: Officials Meet In Jamestown Regarding Air Service. (With Video)



Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) -- Governor Jack Dalrymple today (Thursday September 1, 2011) met with Delta Airlines executives in Jamestown to press them for continued dependable air travel service for Jamestown and Devils Lake. Delta recently announced that it is considering transitioning its business operations that may involve a change in carrier service for the two communities.

Governor Dalrymple says, “Delta officials needed to hear how important air service is for the continued economic growth and the quality of life for residents in the Jamestown and Devils Lake regions. We will continue to do all we can to ensure that reliable air service is maintained for these communities.”

Delta Airlines recently announced plans to discontinue service or make service adjustments in Jamestown, Devils Lake and in 22 other cities across the country. Delta is required under contract with the U.S. Department of Transportation to continue serving Jamestown and Devils Lake until a new carrier agrees to take over service to the two cities. Attending the meeting were Sen. John Hoeven, Rep. Rick Berg, Jamestown Mayor Katie Andersen, Devils Lake Mayor Richard Johnson and other local airport and community officials.

Senator Hoeven said it is essential to have quality dependable air service for Jamestown and Devils Lake. Talk continues with Delta Airlines and community leaders to have a quality subcontractor working with Delta. Hoeven added, Delta officials have committed to working withthe Federal Department of transportation.  He said a proactive approach is being taken to maintain the level of service, aircraft and routing to continue to grow the Jamestown and Devils Lake communities.
