A skydiver suffered minor injuries Friday afternoon in a mishap at the annual Dollar Daze Couch Freak Boogie skydiving festival at the Fort Dodge Regional Airport.

According to Steve Lawyer, the on-site U.S. Parachute Association safety and training adviser, the accident happened when the unidentified skydiver collided with another skydiver during the free fall phase of his jump. The collision resulted in the diver experiencing numbness in his right arm, which is used to trigger the parachute release.

The diver used his reserve chute to land near the runway. Lawyer said that in addition to his arm injury, the skydiver also suffered a facial laceration and was complaining of neck pain.

The victim was transported to Trinity Regional Medical Center for observation.
