Jet service now available at Pine Belt Regional Airport

JONES COUNTY, MS - Passengers flying in and out of the Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport will now travel by jet.

Until a new carrier is accepted under the essential air service program, Delta will continue to provide two incoming and two outgoing flights a day.

Airport Executive Director Tom Heanue said, "One thing people have to remember is you need to support this service, we need to put as many people as we can on this plane. Whether it is Delta or another company wishing to supply service here, they are not going to want to do it on a plane that is only carrying 5 or 10 people."

Heanue said passenger numbers have been up for the last couple of months, but the airport needs continued support from Pine Belt residents to keep carriers from pulling service out of the area.
