Watch Video

LIMINGTON, Maine -- An ultralight pilot is recovering at Maine Medical Center after crashing the aircraft into a line of 8-foot tall trees on a camp road near the Limington airport.

Officials said the pilot, whose name has not yet been released, and an instructor were flying the ultralight when the aircraft lost power.

Authorities said the pilot then tried to land the ultralight in a sand bed, but didn't make it-- instead getting stuck in the trees.

The Limington Fire Department said it received the call around 10:30 a.m, and that crews were at the scene within 15 minutes.

Crews were able to rescue the pilot and instructor, who was not injured in the crash.

The ultralight, a small, motorized aircraft equipped with a parachute instead of wings, was not damaged in the incident.
