Kolesnikov says Ukraine has chance to obtain first FAA category in 2011

Vice Prime Minister, Infrastructure Minister Borys Kolesnikov says Ukraine has a good chance to return from the second to the first category of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA, the United States) in 2011.

"We have a great chance to get the first category. This will allow Ukrainian airlines to fly to other cities in the United States, apart from Washington and New York, as we [now only] have the right to fly to these cities," he said at a press conference in Kyiv.

According to him, Ukraine will be audited by the FAA on September 28-30.

The advisor to the AeroSvit director general on public relations, Serhiy Kutsy, told Interfax-Ukraine that if the United States aviation authorities make a positive decision, the air carrier is ready to make daily flights on the Kyiv-New York route, as well as launch a new Kyiv-Chicago route.
