Cleveland-bound plane diverted due to smoke in bathroom

WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. — A spokesman for Bradley International Airport says smoke in a plane’s bathroom forced the pilot to return just minutes after take-off.

John Wallace, spokesman for the airport, said a Continental Express flight headed to Cleveland, returned to the airport at 9:45 a.m. Monday. He had no additional details on the incident.

Forty-nine passengers and three crew members were directed off the plane and returned to the terminal.

Continental Airlines did not immediately return a call seeking information.
