North Dakota: Airport traffic continues to soar . . . .

Airport boardings in Williston continue to hit record levels, according to July numbers released by the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission.

Boardings at Sloulin Field International Airport again set a new record in July with 2,729.

This was an 85.5 percent increase over the 1,471 July boardings in 2010.

July's numbers broke the single-month record in Williston, set in June with 2,549.

Boardings at Sloulin Field for the year are also on a record pace. Through July 31 a total of 14,465 boardings were recorded.

This is a 70 percent increase over the 8,513 through July 31 in 2010.

Sloulin Field boardings are well on their way to passing the record 15,897 for all of 2010.

Statewide, airport boardings at North Dakota's eight commercial service airports was up 4.3 percent.

A total of 81,214 boardings in North Dakota were recorded in July, up from 77,880 in July 2010.

Other large increases in July boardings occurred in Minot and Dickinson.

Minot posted 13,438 July boardings, a 40 percent increase over 9,609 in 2010.

Dickinson posted 1,682, an 80 percent increase over 936 in July 2010.
