VERO BEACH, Florida — A plane landed at Vero Beach Regional Airport with its engine on fire Saturday afternoon, police said.
The pilot was able to land safely about 12:15 p.m. and no one was injured, Vero Beach police said. Firefighters put out the fire.
The cause of the fire was not immediately available. The FAA is conducting an investigation, spokesman Jim Peters said.
The Piper PA46-500TP Malibu Meridian is registered with Piper Aircraft Inc of Vero Beach.
The pilot, flying solo, informed the airport of the need to make an emergency landing, Peters said.
