The Civil Aviation Safety
Authority is conducting test flights around the Wide Bay this week to
check the safety of flight paths.
The authority will fly light aircraft around airports, including Hervey Bay, Maryborough and Bundaberg.
Spokesman Peter Gibson says they will be flying at low altitude in a radius of about 35 kilometres.
"This is to make sure
that they're safe to operate at night and in poor weather and that there
are no obstacles that could get in the way of aircraft when they're
landing or taking off," he said.
"Trees can grow, new
buildings or structures can be put up without much thought to what they
might do in terms of aircraft, so we need to just check all those
things."
