Two Biman Bangladesh Airlines passengers fined for sexual harassment

Two male passengers of Biman Bangladesh Airlines have been fined on charges of sexually harassing two fellow women passengers aboard a Dhaka-bound Dubai flight.

After the flight landed at the Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Friday night, Executive Magistrate of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Siddiqua Akther conducted a mobile court and fined the two offenders Tk 5,000 each.

The offenders were identified as ‘Emon’, 38, and Mintu Shikder, 43.

Alamgir Hossain Shimul, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn), said that the convicts admitted their wrongdoings.

He said that the duo sexually harassed two fellow women passengers when the plane was in the air.

“Even after the flight landed at the airport, Emon and Mintu chased the women. The armed police arrested them after the women informed the law enforcers. Later, the executive magistrate of the Civil Aviation Authority fined them,” he said.

Emon is from Pirojpur district while Mintu is from Barisal district. They went to Dubai for business purposes, the armed police official said.
