Aérospatiale/Eurocopter AS-350B3 Ecureuil: National Electoral Commission regrets death of helicopter’s four occupants

Luanda – The National Electoral Commission (CNE) last Sunday manifested its consternation for the death of four Angolan citizens, who were travelling in a police helicopter carrying out activities in the ambit of the August 31 general elections.

The Ecureuil type helicopter crashed in Dundo City, north-eastern Lunda Norte Province, killing its four occupants, namely the captain of the aircraft, chief-inspector Tiago Casimiro, his assistant, Adelino João Brandão, as well as the workers of the Provincial Electoral Commission, Lourenço Mussenoho and Maria Augusta João.

On a note of condolences read by the spokeswoman of the National Electoral Commission (CNE), Júlia Ferreira, the institution regrets this sad event and extends to the family in mourning, the National Police and the population of Lunda Norte Province its profound consternation.

ANGOP has learnt that the National Police have already sent an inquiry team to Lunda Norte Province to probe into the causes of the accident, which left the helicopter completely destroyed.

The General Command of the National Police have also expressed its “most sincere feeling of consternation” and solidarity to the families in mourning.

Luanda — A helicopter of the Angolan National Police that was supporting the National Electoral Commission (CNE) crashed last Saturday, at about 06.30 pm, 12 kilometres off Dundo City, in the north-eastern Lunda Norte Province, states a note released by the Corporation on Sunday.

According to the note, the accident caused the death of the four occupants of the helicopter, namely the captain of the aircraft, chief-inspector Tiago Casimiro, his assistant, João Adelino João Brandão, as well as the workers of the Provincial Electoral Commission, Lourenço Mussenoho and Maria Augusta João.

The note also states that the National Police have already sent an inquiry team to Lunda Norte Province to probe into the causes behind the accident.

According to the note, the General Command of the National Police, in view of this sand event, pays profound homage to the victims of the accident and presents to the families in mourning its most sincere feeling of consternation.
