Millville, New Jersey: Obituary - Charles H. Urban Jr., Veteran, worked for Airwork Corp.

Charles H. Urban Jr., 89, of Millville died Sunday morning, March 4, 2012, at the Millville Center after an extended illness.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps just before the start of World War II. He served four years as a sergeant. During the war, he was stationed at the Millville airport, where he met his wife, Jeanne, at a USO dance. They married, and after the war they settled in Millville to raise their family.

For 26 years, Mr. Urban worked for Airwork Corp. until it closed. He then worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as a service technician for the U.S. government in Pomona. He retired after 28 years of service.

Mr. Urban was a proud owner and pilot of his own Cessna airplane, which he kept at the Millville Municipal Airport. He was a member of the Elks of Millville BPOE No. 580. He also was a member of the Parish of All Saints in Millville.

Mr. Urban is survived by his wife, Jeanne (Reeves); one daughter, Sandra Urban of Millville; one sister, Joan Soltys of Millville; one granddaughter, Christie Mielzarek and husband Erik of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Richard Urban; and two sisters, Blanche Schilla and Evelyn Granelli.

Memorial services for the family were private.
