Celebrating new years eve at 1000' within a Cirrus SR-22

"Dear friends,

People say "wherever new year finds you, this is what you will do for the rest of the year". I don't know how true is this, but since 2002, when I entered the airforce academy, I was always on duty the new years eve. By the time I love to fly more than eating steaks on Sunday, I can't complain for it. But "unfortunately" it's really difficult to take off for a mission during the new years eve.

Yesterday I had my crew rest at the island of Rhodes, southeastern Greece. I was thinking what may I do in order to enjoy the night, regardless if I was far away from my friends and family. At least I had my girlfriend, Silje, to visit me here!

As I am a real aviation geek, I rent an airplane and made my dream come true. The babble that I had all those years above my head, thinking of me celebrating the new years eve up in the air, came true! And both Silje and I enjoyed it A LOT.

I wish all the aviation geeks this year to fly so much, that we forget how it is to walk!"
