Federal lawsuits filed against 2 Guam employers

HAGATNA, Guam (AP) — Two Guam employers are the targets of U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission lawsuits.

The agency has filed a federal sexual harassment lawsuit against a Guam pharmaceutical wholesaler and a religious discrimination suit against a Guam aircraft company.

One lawsuit claims MD Wholesale subjected female employees to sexual harassment, including unwelcome sexual propositions and touching by a management official, since at least 2008.

The other suit against Aviation Concepts claims an assistant mechanic who is a Jehovah's Witness was fired after he refused to raise the flags of the United States and Guam because of his religious beliefs.

The EEOC announced the lawsuits Tuesday.

Representatives of both companies could not immediately be reached for comment Tuesday.
