Karachi airport manager dismissed over ‘mismanagement and negligence’ during attack

KARACHI: Karachi airport manager Azfar Malik was removed from his post on Friday for mismanagement and negligence during the Karachi airport attack on June 8.

Malik has been replaced by Ali Jan Agha as Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) takes measures to replace officers following the airport attack.

The CAA fire officer Faiz Akhtar and CAA General Manager Fire Raza Rizvi have also been removed from their posts.

Earlier in the day, an inquiry committee absolved the CAA, Airport Security Force (ASF) and fire-fighters of blame for a devastating blaze which engulfed a cargo warehouse after the June 8 attack at the Karachi airport, leaving seven dead.

On June 8, militants stormed into the Karachi airport in a midnight siege which left 30 dead, including all 10 militants. The Tehreek-e-Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
