Helicopter training operations in north Snohomish County

Monday afternoon, June 23, Northwest Regional Aviation will conduct multiple helicopter training operations in north Snohomish County. People might notice a number of aircraft in the area traveling at low altitude. Scenarios will be conducted between noon and 4 p.m. in the Silvana area.

Aircraft likely to be used will be UH-60 and HH-65 helicopters and a Cessna 206 fixed wing aircraft. People will likely see increased low level aircraft operations as the pilots evaluate the scene, maneuver for rescue operations and hoist survivors into the helicopter for transport.

The purpose of this exercise is training in aircraft rescue coordination using aircraft from various agencies, including the military. The scenarios in this exercise simulate a flood in north Snohomish County requiring rescue resources to assist stranded victims.

Participating aviation agencies include Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Patrol, Washington State Department of Transportation, US Navy, US Coast Guard and Washington Army National Guard.

Personnel from Fire District 19, Fire District 22, Seattle Fire Department, Fire District 26, Snohomish County Department of Emergency Management, Arlington Airport and SNOPAC will be supporting the aviation exercise.
