Five questions with Nick Sabo, assistant manager at Frederick Municipal Airport (KFDK), Maryland

What are your key duties as assistant airport manager?  
The key duties of the assistant airport manager are centered on supporting the airport manager in the safe, efficient and secure operational use of the airport and associated facilities.

Why did you go for the assistant manager position? 

I was transitioning out of the military, and the position aligned closely with my educational background and experience.

What experience do you bring to the airport?  

I have over 5 1/2 years of military airfield operations experience between two stateside and two overseas airfields. I have received FAA certification as an air traffic controller in both tower and approach control facilities. I am a certified member with the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).

What are you most looking forward to about the job?  

Frederick Municipal is an exciting general aviation airport with a bright future, and I look forward to meeting the challenges of increased demand, especially by corporate users.

What do you hope to accomplish at the airport?

 I hope to accomplish whatever is required to help the airport achieve its vision of becoming a premier corporate aviation destination, while continuing to provide outstanding service to our GA community.
