Moscow, Ohio: Aerial Act Needed To Restring Power Cables Over River

MOSCOW, Ohio -- As Moscow continues to recover from the March 2 tornado that damaged much of the village, a lesser-known problem is being fixed nearby.

Crews are working to restring power transmission lines over the Ohio River from the Zimmer Power Plant. The lines, along with a 300 foot tower, were knocked down by the tornado.

Power has been rerouted around the broken lines since.

A helicopter spent Friday morning moving ropes across the river to assist in the eventual move to bring power cables across the 2800 foot width of the river.

Crews are also working on four other towers that will eventually receive the power cables.

News 5's Brian Hamrick will have the latest on this story later Friday.
