Mukwonago--A 59-year-old pilot from Racine called 9-1-1 after he was forced to make an emergency landing Monday in the Mukwonago River.
"The aircraft has crashed into a river here, " said Vaughn Weeks. "It smashed into where?" the dispatcher asked. "A river," repeated Weeks.
The plane's engine quit as he was flying over I-43 near Mukwonago.
Instead of trying to land on the busy interstate, Weeks crash-landed in the river.
He walked away from the wreck with minor bumps and bruises.
Dispatcher: "Are you injured at all? Pilot: "I bumped my head, bleeding a little bit, I seem to be okay."
The FAA removed the plane's engine yesterday.
The rest of the aircraft was lited out of the water but remains along the banks of the Mukwonago River.
