Granada plane crash claims two lives

Two men who lost their lives today in a light aircraft crash in the Granada area have been identified, although their names have not been revealed until their family members have been contacted.

Emergency services say the victims are a 57-year-old man from Murcia and his 60-year-old companion from Orihuela (Alicante).

They perished this afternoon when their craft went down in the rural area known as El Pozo de la Rueda between Orce (Granada) and María (Almería) at around 15.30hrs.

A witness called 112 when the plane came down and burst into flames, say police.

They are investigating the causes of the crash with the help of the witness, who believes the aircraft plummeted to the ground shortly after take-off.
