Glasair III: Pilot in fatal plane crash identified as Louisville doctor. (Kentucky)

The pilot of the single-engine plane that crashed into a motel near the Rough River Dam State Resort Park was a Louisville doctor, the Grayson County Coroner’s Office said Saturday.

Lyle R. Moss, 61, died Friday afternoon when his plane crashed into the Pine Tree Inn in Falls of Rough, Ky., Grayson County Coroner Joe Brad Hudson said.

Moss was a doctor in Louisville, Hudson said.

The owner of the motel suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, Grayson County Sheriff Rick Clemons said Friday. No others were injured.

A witness told the sheriff’s office that the plane’s engine began to sputter not long after taking off from an airfield in the state park, Clemons said.
