ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Officials found 137 pounds of marijuana strapped to an Ultralight aircraft Thursday while conducting a desert operation in the Playas Valley between the US/Mexico border and State Road 9.

Police say three large bundles of marijuana were found attached to the bottom of the aircraft. After inspecting the aircraft investigators determined that the plane had run out of fuel, causing a crash landing.

Because of recent rain in the area, any footprints that may have been left behind by the pilot were gone, so at this time no arrests have been made.

The street value of the marijuana, which police believe originated in Mexico, is estimated to be worth about $54,000.
