Black box of crashed Jaguar plane found

VARANASI: The black box of the Jaguar fighter aircraft that crashed in Dhilahi Firozpur village in Mau district recently killing the pilot and a local girl was found in a ditch on Saturday.

The police personnel at Madhuban police station of Mau district when contacted over phone confirmed that the black box or digital flight data recorder of the ill fated Jaguar fighter was found and handed over to the Indian Air Foarce personnel. The superintendent of police of Mau Omkar Singh also told TOI that he was intimated by the local police personnel that the black box was found.

It may be recalled that the single-seater aircraft, which was on a routine sortie from Gorakhpur, had crashed in Dhilai Firozpur village under Madhubanb police station of Mau district on on August 4. The pilot, Flight Lieutenant S Pandey and a local girl Ruma Sahni, who was hit by the splinter of the crashed aircraft, were killed in this incident. The debris of the aircraft was scattered in a radius of about a kilometre. In search of the black box IAF team had also gone to the village on Friday.
