Boeing looking to fill 1,000 jobs. North Charleston, South Carolina.

NORTH CHARLESTON SC — Boeing is seeking 3,000 applications for about 1,000 jobs at its new North Charleston manufacturing plant for its Dreamliner aircraft.

S.C. Rep. Carl Anderson and Sen. Yancey McGill told the Georgetown Times late Monday that the company will accept the job applications online, beginning Saturday, Aug. 13 and ending Sunday, Aug. 14. The applications will only be taken those two days.

The Boeing Assembler/Fabricator positions will be well-paying jobs, Anderson told the Times.

“We hope people from Georgetown County would apply,” Anderson said. “We have been talking to companies that want to do spin-offs” from the Boeing plant.

“We want our people to apply to show interest from Georgetown. If statistics show a lot of people apply from Georgetown, then maybe we can get some of the spin-off companies to come to Georgetown,” he said.

Boeing’s North Charleston plant would only be about 45 minutes to an hour from Andrews and Georgetown, Anderson said.

“We want people to start applying as soon as the 13th gets here — one minute after midnight.”

“We are always confronted with a high unemployment rate,” Anderson continued. Jobs at the Boeing plant or at any future spin-off plants will help the families of people who get jobs there, and will help reduce the unemployment rate for the county.

The Web site to apply online on Saturday and Sunday is: www.sctechjobs.com.
