Cessna T206H Turbo Stationair, N51610: Fatal accident occurred May 20, 2020 near Center Municipal Airport (F17), Shelby County, Texas

On May 20, 2020, about 1640 central daylight time (CDT), a Cessna T206N airplane, N51610, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Center, Texas. The pilot and passenger were fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal cross-country flight.

According to preliminary information, the airplane departed from the Astronaut Kent Rominger Airport (RCV), Del Norte, Colorado about 0920 mountain daylight time. The flight had stopped at the Gainesville Municipal Airport (GLE), Gainesville, Texas, and the pilot purchased 65 gallons of fuel. The flight departed GLE about 1440 CDT and was performing a visual landing at Center Municipal Airport (F17), Center, Texas.

Eyewitnesses saw the airplane approach runway 35 and heard the airplane's engine noise as the airplane did a go-around or aborted the landing. The next time the witnesses saw the airplane it was in a south of the runway in a vertical nose-low attitude just before the airplane impacted the ground.

The wreckage was located in a wooded area, south of runway 35. Impact signatures were consistent with a near vertical impact angle. There was no postimpact fire. All major flight control surfaces were accounted for at the accident site. The engine was driven into the ground approximately 5 feet.

Preliminary weather information for the accident flight was collected. A sounding model showed the potential for a broken to overcast layer of clouds at 1,500 ft above ground level. The nearest aviation weather reporting facility located 22 nautical miles from the accident reported a broken ceiling at 1,300 ft. Infrared satellite imagery showed a layer of low stratiform clouds over the accident site with cloud tops near 3,000 ft.

The wreckage was recovered and retained for further examination.

Carolyn Hooker Scull

Carolyn Hooker Scull, 81, of Tenaha, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020, in Center.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 24, 2020, at First Baptist Church in Tenaha with Pastor John Whitworth and Bro. Joe Bob Alexander officiating. Interment will be held at Woods Cemetery in Panola County.

Born August 27, 1938, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Carolyn is the daughter of the late Raymond Haywood Henderson and Leatha Stanley Henderson. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Sam Houston State University and a founding member of Zeta Tau Alpha of SHSU. Carolyn was a member of Tenaha Businessmen’s

Association, Child Welfare Board, and Tenaha Beautification Community. She also served as Camp Grandma for

Royal Family Kid’s Camp. Carolyn was a member of First Baptist Church in Tenaha. She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Hooker Macioce and husband Rob of Smithville and Shanon Hooker of Spring; grandchildren, Cody Wayne Barton and wife Jennifer of Tenaha, Jacob Wayne Killingsworth and wife Vanessa of Springtown, Matthew Macioce of San Antonio, and Sarah Elizabeth Ramon and husband Dalton of

Tenaha; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Linda Kellar and husband Bobby of Smithville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is joined in death by her husband, John Scull and is preceded in death by her husband, Ben Hooker; parents; and brother, Stan Henderson.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Weesner, Mitch Norton, Stephen Harrell, Ben Dial, Johnny Harrington, and Brack Harrison.

Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Walker, Keith Martin, Royce Perry, Dave Harrell, and Joe Hollis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to First Baptist Church in Tenaha and Woods Cemetery Association.

John Dale Scull

John Dale Scull, 73, of Tenaha, Texas, passed away on May 20th 2020 in Center, Texas.

Funeral service will be held May 24th at 2:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church in Tenaha with Pastor John Whitworth and Bro. Joe Bob Alexander officiating. Interment will be held at Scull Family Cemetery in Tenaha.

John was born February 19, 1947 in Corpus Christi, TX to Drue Dale Scull and Clay Esther Scull. He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church in Tenaha and also served on the board of trustees at East Texas Baptist University for over 20 years.

He is survived by his two sons, John Drue Scull and wife Suzanne Scull of Tenaha and Terry Stephen Scull and wife Alison Scull of Center; one daughter, Dee Ann Scull Starr and husband Greg Starr of Texarkana, TX; nine grandchildren, C.D. Scull and his wife Layne Scull of Longview, Alayna and Molly Scull of Tenaha, TX, Caroline, Sarah, and Laura Anne Scull of Center, TX, Daniel, Abi, and Katie Starr of Texarkana, TX; two sisters, Priscilla Hill of Ft. Worth, TX and Jodie Wright and husband Mike of Friendswood, TX; 5 nieces and 1 nephew.

He is joined in death by his wife, Carolyn Hooker Scull and preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Erma Dee Scull.

Pallbearers will be Keith Martin, Frank Kilpatrick, David Anderson, Steve Roan, Carmelo Dominguez, and Scott Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be FBC Deacons, Royce Perry, Jeff Weesner, and Delmer Rochelle.
