NORTHAMPTON, Massachusetts  – A single-engine plane made an emergency landing at the Northampton Airport Sunday morning.

The pilot experienced engine trouble mid-flight and made the emergency landing at about 9:35 a.m., Fire Department officials said.

All the occupants escaped the plane safely and no one was injured in the incident, officials said.

The plane landed safely and skidded off the end of the runway into a cornfield. It sustained minor damage during the emergency landing, officials said.

Northampton Fire crews responded to assist. Officials remain at the scene and were not immediately available to provide more information.

The Northampton Airport is privately owned and located off Old Ferry Road.
