William J. Dicks:   United Airlines' Worker Teased Customer With Unsolicited Sex Talk

1-800-WTF?

A Milwaukee man – named William J. Dicks — was left “utterly humiliated” when he was subjected to 48 minutes of unsolicited sex talk by a United Airline’s reservation agent who taunted him over his name, a bizarre new lawsuit claims.

Dicks was “reminded of the trauma he suffered as a child when he was teased because of his last name” during the Feb. 15 phone call for information about his flight the next day to New Orleans, according to his lawsuit filed in Wisconsin federal court.

He was connected to a male reservation agent who allegedly told Dicks during the call, which began at 12:38 p.m., that his last name was “controversial” but that “he liked it.”

The randy rep also asked Dicks if he “was alone and what he would do” to the agent “if they were alone together” and asked whether he used “protection” with his then-girlfriend, the suit said.

The conversation took an even creepier turn when the agent asked Dicks if he had a Facebook or any other social media accounts so he could check out his photos, according to the complaint.

The agent’s “statements went entirely beyond information pertinent” to Dicks’ flight, the suit said.

“Though utterly humiliated, [Dicks] remained on the phone with [United’s] reservation agent until he gained his necessary flight information,” court papers said.

Dicks said after hanging up, he feared the reservation agent, who now had access to all his personal information, would show up at one of the airports in Milwaukee or New Orleans, or worse – his actual home.

Dicks reported the incident to United and the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission but claims he got the run around and “very little information.”

He also alleges the embarrassing phone call caused his “emotional well-being and sense of self-worth to suffer” – leading him to break up with his girlfriend.

Dicks is now suing for invasion of privacy, unlawful use of telephone and obscene or harassing telephone calls.

It’s unclear whether the offending reservation agent still works at United, which didn’t immediately return a message seeking comment.
