Statewide push is on to ensure success of Norwegian Air service at Stewart International Airport (KSWF), New York

STEWART AIRPORT – In two weeks, Norwegian Air will begin flying to Europe from Stewart International Airport near Newburgh.

The first flights, commencing on June 15, connect the Hudson Valley with Edinburgh, Scotland and the push is on to market the Hudson Valley and state to the European traveler.

Orange County Tourism Director Susan Hawvermale said since most European travelers have already visited New York City, they want to attract them to destinations in the Mid-Hudson and north.

“We are all working together as tourism professionals to make sure we get them on those planes to begin with,” Hawvermale said. “We want them to come, spend a week, spend a weekend, in upstate New York, because we want to capture that traffic and make sure they have a wonderful experience in New York State.”

Beginning two weeks later in July, Norwegian will begin flights to Ireland, Northern Ireland and Norway.
