Man sues Ryanair after flight attendant spills burning hot tea on his genitals

A Ryanair passenger has won thousands in compensation after a flight attendant spilt boiling tea over his genitals.

Ronald Furlong claimed a flight attendant on a London to Dublin fight in 2012 dropped the beverage when passing it to a passenger.

The pain was so severe Mr. Furlong stripped mid-flight so a dressing could be applied to his injuries.

He had to sit on a temporary seat for the remainder of the flight.

In court Mr. Furlong, 33, claimed the airline had failed to ensure its staff would properly transfer hot liquid with a secure lid.

He claimed his social, domestic and recreational lifestyle had been "interfered with" following the incident.

Ryanair denied liability and even alleged he had caused the hot drink to spill on himself.

The airline claimed he had acted in a careless and inattentive manner.

Mr. Furlong, of Esmonde Road, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, was awarded €38,000 (£27,628) in compensation by Circuit Court President Mr. Justice Raymond Groarke.
